The Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association (OMEGA) is a collaborative body of member governments that serves as a facilitator between state and federal agencies and local entities — providing opportunities in economic and community development through networking, education, planning, research, and the allocation of resources.
OMEGA’s main objective is to foster a cooperative effort in the planning, development, and implementation of local and regional plans, programs, and projects that increase economic activity in the area and improve the quality of life of its citizens.
What OMEGA does
- Serves as a Local Development District (LDD) for the Appalachian Regional Commission, having helped secure more than $75 million in ARC grant awards.
- Operates as a certified Economic Development District (EDD) funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration.
- Functions as a Council of Governments (COG) uniting county and local officials across the region.
- Is Ohio’s designated Regional Transportation Planning Organization (RTPO) for rural east-central Ohio.
- Administers loan funds, broadband planning, community-development grant counseling, and opioid-settlement (One Ohio) programs.
OMEGA serves the counties of Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Muskingum, and Tuscarawas.
